If the idea of a turn based RPG by the Final Fantasy Tactics team sounds at all interesting to you, I highly recommend you download Crimson Shroud. This game feels like an evolution of the original NES Final Fantasy, if they had decided to forget about flashy cinematics and focus on telling a story through limited visuals with solid writing. This is the game I have been silently begging for for ages. Save anywhere also fits well with my lifestyle. I have read other reviewers mention short play throughs of Crimson Shroud, but it took me 12 hours to complete my first time, which is a perfect length for a busy guy like me. I also fell in love with the soundtrack, which definitely has a deep Final Fantasy Tactics lineage. Every room and item has a detailed description and they are written in a way that really pulled me into the fantasy atmosphere. Several things about the production really grabbed me. Now, in order to proceed to the next level, you will have to find the room with the trigger, but that is part of the fun. You don't direct a character around in a typical fashion instead, you select any room in the dungeon, and your characters go directly there without random battles, it doesn't matter if it is the room next door or three floors away. After Final Fantasy XIII, I felt that the idea of an RPG without mazes could never work, but Crimson Shroud totally pulls it off. Combat is old school turn based RPG fare, but this is the best implementation of that style that I have played since Final Fantasy X. And to be blunt survival isn't as difficult right now not even because of eggs (which just adds another power creep) but because arcanas like Awakening or Disco Gold (both of which are easily slotted and the former has been one of the more dominant arcanas due to how strong you can get from it while the latter can out heal full curse 28-29 minute bonezone and has made the challenge map considerably more accessible) and just the power creep of builds.I am just going to come out and say this Crimson Shroud is my game of the year. Whereas crimson shroud really only has itself and its passives, of which the extra HP and HP regen is of lower value than Silver ring's AoE and Duration and lacks any arcana to compliment it at the moment. To give an idea you can sit still on 140% curse, with only base armor, health, and regen, on the bonezone at the 28-29 minute mark as enemies will be deleted with ease without threatening to end your run. In higher curses Infinite Corridors is a huge boon as there is little cooldown while it halves the enemy HP to make mobs at 180-190+ much more easily dispatched without having to rely on well timed Gorgeous Moon deletions. It also has 2 arcanas that you can easily build into to create a much stronger build that facilitates the weapon, out of bounds + crystal jail easily is one of the better builds right now with its mix of defense and offense allowing you to forgo defensive options to slot in more offensive weapons or passives. Infinite corridor by far it acts as a much better utility item providing both offense and defense.
